Cause
The group of volunteers who support Dee’s Orphan Kitten Fund dedicate their time and energy in numerous ways – from trapping the feral cats and kittens, which may involve hours hiding in the bushes waiting for the unsuspecting kitty to spring the trap, or caring for the sick or orphaned kittens, ie feeding them every 3 hours day and night, or the joyful job of fostering the playful kittens until they are ready to go to their forever homes. When purchasing tickets for Dee’s Orphan Kitten Funds’ 50/50 Draw you should know that 100% of the funds we receive go to the cost of veterinary care and food and litter, as we are all volunteers. Our goal is to reduce the number of homeless and feral cats and kittens in the Greater Victoria, Sooke, Duncan and Metchosin areas by having every cat in our care spayed or neutered. The sterilization of these cats helps reduce the homeless cat population for the entire region which in turn helps reduce the spread of illness and disease in both the feral populations and domestic animals. Since incorporating in 2000 we have helped closed to ten thousand cats.
